Google will be hosting an event on Oct. 4 where the company would launch a new Chromecast media streamer called “Chromecast Ultra" or “Chromecast Plus.”
Google will unveil a wide array of hardware products on Oct. 4. The search engine giant is expected to launch a VR headset, a pair of Pixel-branded phones, the Amazon Echo-like Google Home, a Wi-Fi router, and a 4K-capable digital media player. According to the person familiar with the matter, Google will market the new Chromecast media streamer as Chromecast Ultra.

The new Chromecast is said to come with support for 4K resolution video and may even have HDR support. It will have the firmware version 1.2, which was just released in beta form to members of the Chromecast Preview program. Google has eliminated the Chromecast logo and replaced it with a “G” logo, according to Venture Beat.
The Ultra will be sold along with the current high definition Chromecast dongle. The new Chromecast will have a price tag of $69, 9to5 Google reported. The price of the device, which is $30 higher than that of its predecessor, can be attributed to its powerful hardware that provides content with 4K resolution from a device like a smartphone to an HDMI-equipped display.
Meanwhile, Roku has unveiled the Roku Express, which has the same features as Google's upcoming Chromecast. It is the company’s most affordable streaming player to date with a price tag of $30. Its features include 1080p streaming and app support. However, it would not be in the market until October 9.
