Apple's new UK headquarters will be located at the historic Battersea Power Station building. The Grade II-listed building is currently undergoing a restoration.

The building features four high chimneys, and Apple will be its biggest tenant. The US technology company is expected to station 1,400 of its employees across six floors of the building.

The building was previously used as a coal-fired power station. The building had been unoccupied for a long time. An Apple spokesperson said that it is a "great opportunity" to relocate to the building. The company stated that its entire team would work together to support the renovation of a historic neighborhood.

The move has been welcomed by UK authorities. London Mayor Sadiq Khan said that Apple's arrival will help to create new jobs and will bring economic prosperity. British Chancellor Philip Hammond hailed the decision as a vote of confidence for the UK economy.

Apple is leasing 500,000 square feet of the building, making it one of Apple's largest office spaces outside of the US. The company is likely to open the new site by 2021. Apple will retain its official European headquarters in Cork, Ireland. The company has 4,000 employees working at that site. The technology giant is likely to place its core functions such as finance and HR in the new building.

Apple is also working on its ambitious Apple Campus 2 in California. The structure is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
