Snapdragon 820 is Qualcomm's debut into smartphone market. Venture Beat reported that Qualcomm is aiming at exploring a host of markets. Its intended targets include wearable, networking, smart homes, automobile applications, traffic management, health care and smart phones. Qualcomm's Chief Executive Steven Mollenkopf mentioned at the CES that the new chip was designed to use and be integrated into 80 products.
NDTV mentions that prior to the announcement at CES, there were reports that Samsung would have exclusive access to Snapdragon 820 chipset until April 2016. It was rumored that Samsung Galaxy S7 would be the first smartphone to have Qualcomm's latest product. The announcement has set these reports to rest.
The upcoming chip is designed to make smartphones smarter. NDTV mentions that the company had unveiled the chip's specs in November 2015. Snapdragon 820 is to have a new Qualcomm Kryo CPU which shall be two times as efficient as Snapdragon 810. It is a 64-bit CPU that uses ARMv8-A instruction set. It shall have Qualcomm Hexagon 680 DSP and Qualcomm Adreno 530 GPU. This assures us improved performance and battery life.
Digital Trends claims that sporting latest Snapdragon chipset is the biggest plus for LeTV Le Max Pro. Nevertheless, Le Max Pro packs a host of exciting features. It shall have a 6.33 inch screen, an all-aluminum body, Qualcomm's 3D ultrasonic sensor, fingerprint sensor, 21 MP primary camera, USB-Type C, 64 GB expandable memory, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
Having entered smartphone market, Qualcomm is in serious competition with Intel. Performance and reviews of Le Max Pro after it releases this year shall be another game changer for Qualcomm.
