Yahoo has denied allegations that it is attempting to prevent its Mail users from leaving by disabling the auto forwarding feature on the platform.
Struggling tech giant Yahoo has brought back its email forwarding feature which was withdrawn earlier this week. The company also took the time to explain the reason behind the removal of the service. Yahoo is currently dealing with multiple issues including the fallout of its disclosure that it was a victim of a security breach and the potential restructuring of its deal with Verizon.

Yahoo claims that the mail forwarding feature was closed on account of an ongoing maintenance program. The program is aimed at enhancing the features of Yahoo Mail including offering multiple account support and search function. Earlier, Yahoo claimed that the feature was "under development."
Yahoo has urged its users to seek out the alternatives to auto-forwarding. In a blog post, the company said that the users might prefer to connect their Yahoo inbox to their preferred email provider or client. It also touted multiple mailbox support facility offered by Yahoo Mail. However, it claimed that the switching off the auto-forwarding feature was an accident.
Auto-forwarding email feature comes handy when users decide to change their email provider. Following the news of a security breach in 2014 and the subsequent revelation that Yahoo may be snooping on its users' emails, it is likely that many Yahoo email users are contemplating switching their email provider.
Yahoo is currently in the process of finalizing a buyout deal with Verizon. Verizon is reportedly looking for a hefty discount on its purchase price as it claims that recent revelations may have severely compromised Yahoo's brand value.
