Cases of sexually transmitted diseases rise in the United States.
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that the cases of sexually transmitted diseases in the United States has significantly increased since 2015. The challenge comes as both state and local health departments began loosing funds.
More than 1.5 million people were reported to be suffering form, chlamydia. Gonorrhea had 400,000 reported cases, while there were 24,000 primary and secondary cases of syphilis. The cases of chlamydia grew by 5.9 percent, gonorrhea by 12.9 percent and syphilis by 19 percent.

While all three sexually transmitted diseases can be cured with antibiotics, the new strains have been found to be drug-resistant. The World Health Organization has reported that both chlamydia and syphilis are now becoming resistant to antibiotics, while gonorrhea may soon become impervious to the only two antibiotics that are left to treat it.
CDC's Division of Sexually Transmitted Disease Prevention Director, Gail Bolan, told The Verge that the unprecedented rise of sexually transmitted diseases in the United States "is making it really clear that many Americans are not getting the preventive services they need."
Young people within the age bracket of 15-24 accounted for most cases of gonorrhea and chlamydia, while gay and bisexual men accounted for most syphilis and gonorrhea cases. Sexually transmitted diseases, specifically syphilis, also affected newborns after its rate affected 27 percent of women.
The CDC has been expanding their screening and treatment actions, as it is the only way to respond to the challenge. The state, local health care providers and even majority of the public, have all agreed to take part in spreading awareness about sexually transmitted diseases.
