Facebook has upgraded its desktop app for Windows 10 to add voice and video calls. This will eliminate the need to use a browser to make calls.

Facebook has just started to roll out the feature, so it may take some time for all the users to get it.

The Windows 10 Messenger app works in the same lines as iOS and Android OS apps. When a contract is active, the phone icon, located in the top right corner of the screen glows green. Facebook places a high importance on VoIP as earlier this year, it claimed that 10 percent of total VoIP calls are routed through Messenger. The information was further corroborated last month when Facebook announced that over 300 million of its users actively use voice and video calls.

However, the desktop has certain limitations. The desktop app does not have the feature of setting a reminder. Unlike the iOS and Android apps, the desktop app is also not capable of sending a message to another person while receiving a call. It does not also provide the option of leaving a voicemail.

Windows 10 received Messenger in April this year, and it already has features such as reactions, reminders, and stickers. With the new update, Windows users will get a call notification for any incoming call. Users can also make a choice about the camera to be used. Another feature is related to recording a video call. While the app does support group video call, it is possible to make a group voice call.
