The iPod just marked its 15^th birthday. While many tech blogs celebrated the National iPod Day, Apple apparently forgot about it.

The release of the first iPod in October 2001 changed the way people listen to music. The music player's impact on digital music has led people to celebrate what they call the "National iPod Day." Many technology blogs have marked the event, especially now that the iPod has turned 15. But Apple has seemingly forgot its their own design.

Apple has failed to give recognition to the iPod on its most memorable day. Gizmodo reported that there was no tweet about the day from Tim Cook or the Apple official account, no press release, or any form of acknowledgment at all.

While Apple put the classic iPod design to rest in 2015, the company still continues different variations of the device such as the "Shuffle," "Nano," and the "iPod Touch." Both the "iPod Touch" and "Nano" variations have seen further upgrades up to this year. However, the company has placed more focus on its iPhone's. In fact, the iPhone comes with a built-in iTunes and player, thus eliminating the need to buy a separate device.

Apple's decision to ignore the legendary iPod on the "National iPod Day" led to a bittersweet celebration.
