Americans are admittedly afraid of clowns.
Americans are admittedly scared of terrorism, climate change, and death but one thing that seems to scares them more is a clown.
The "clown attack" in the United States has been stirring fear among its citizens. In a recent survey, respondents admitted that clowns are much scarier than terrorist attacks, climate change, and even death.

Americans are aware of the impacts of the erratically changing climate in the world including the melting glaciers that could wipe lands away. The country also experienced a deadly terrorist attack back in Sept. 2001.
However, since August, reports of over a hundred of suspicious and creepy clown sightings have been causing chills to Americans. The Vox poll conducted with Morning Consult from Oct. 15 to 17 revealed that 42 percent of the 1,999 respondents have a fear of clowns.
Coulrophobia was found to be common among respondents aged 18 to 29. The survey participants expressed the opinion that there should be intervention from the government especially the FBI in stopping the "clown attacks."
The results showed that people feared government corruption most at 61 percent, followed by clowns at 42 percent, terrorist attacks at 41 percent, death of a family member at 38 percent, climate change at 32 percent, heights at 24 percent, and death at 19 percent.
The fear of clowns was not only induced by this year's pranksters. Famous clowns including Cirque du Soleil, Luciano Pavarotti dressed as a clown, and Bozo the Clown also brought chills to respondents. Only one-third of those who were surveyed thought fast food chain icon Ronald McDonald was creepy.
Despite being categorized as less scary, McDonald has had to stop showing himself to the public until further notice. This is the first time the mascot had to be away from the spotlight since it debuted in 1963. The company announced the move in light of clown sightings across the country.
