    Google’s self-driving tech to be incorporated into Chrysler’s hybrid minivans

    Google's first self-driving cars will be a partnership with Fiat Chrysler that will add the tech giant's autonomous driving tech to the auto company's road-tested Pacifica hybrid minivan. This could allow the Alphabet company to help parents transport their kids on family outings and summer vacations. It also allows Google to showcase its autonomous vehicle (AV) tech in a more traditional way than its pod cars.

    Tesla Motors released the test results for the air-filtering system of its Model X that showed the effectiveness of its Bioweapon Defense Mode. The electric car company put the crossover SUV in a bubble with extreme levels of pollution that the United States' Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) defines as causing the greatest health risks. In less than two minutes the high-efficiency particulate arrestance (HEPA) filtration system reduced the level of air contamination to amounts too low to detect.

    Sony's new patent filing features a smart contact lens that takes photos like the device used in "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol" but also records video. The Japanese conglomerate's patent application includes details of a pair of lenses with an organic display screen that allows the user to view information such as images and videos. Features of the mini camera that would upgrade vision-correcting laser surgery include autofocus, exposure/aperture adjustment, and video zoom.

    Electronic glasses help legally blind boy see mother for first time ever

    A fifth grader had the chance to see his mother clearly for the first time in his life thanks to electronic glasses. The 12-year-old boy traveled from Virginia to Washington, D.C. a few weeks ago to demo a new wearable device called eSight. The gadget's headset contains a high-speed camera that first captures live video then sends it to a LED screen located in front of the user's eyes.

    Google, Ford, and Uber create giant lobbying coalition for self-driving cars

    Google, Ford, Volvo, Uber, and Lyft announced on April 26, Tuesday that they are joining forces to form a gargantuan lobbying group to put pressure on the United States government about autonomous vehicles (AVs). The tech, automaker, and ride-sharing companies formed the new Self-Driving Coalition for Safer Streets. Its main goal will be to support autonomous driving as federal regulars and lawmakers start dealing with the idea of driverless cars.

    New battery technology that California researchers recently discovered by accident could make laptop and smartphone batteries last 400 times longer than today's lithium-ion batteries and have at least 200,000 cycles. The nanotechnology uses a tiny material that can be charged thousands of times and possibly end the need for battery replacement.

    A Harvard University robotics team has developed an educational robot named Root to teach kids how to code. Root is a hexagon-shaped little robot that looks like the robotic vacuum Roomba but teaches programming languages instead of cleaning floors. It features scanners on the bottom, a touch interface on the top, and bumpers on the sides.

    Huge number of pre-orders for Tesla’s new Model 3; Slated to hit the road by 2017

    The very famous electric car company Tesla, disclosed its new Model 3 Sedan in the last week of March. The company did not expect many orders after only the first presentation out of two; however, to their surprise, they saw more than double the number of pre-orders that they were expecting. The Model 3 is priced at $35,000 as promised, and will hit the roads in 2017.
