A Taiwanese company has unveiled a smart mirror called "HiMirror Plus" that shows users how they would look in five different settings; sunset view, outdoor on a sunny day, brightly lit office, shopping mall, and party venue. The mirror is said to analyze the wrinkles, dark circles, and pores on the user's skin and then recommend some customized skincare routines.
This is not the first smart mirror that the company has come out with. HiMirror Plus costs more than $70 than the original HiMirror and has a new ambient light to simulate different lighting environments so that one can better apply makeup. Boasting incremental upgrades that make it better for selfies and applying makeup, the mirror with LED lights costs $259. Additionally, the company has also unveiled an accessory along with the mirror called the HiSkin, which is a handheld scanner with optical sensors that one can place on their skin to read the complexion.
With the new ambient lights feature, the user can press a button on the mirror to scroll through different scenes, such as daylight, restaurant, and sunset. Subsequently, the lights change color to simulate the selected setting. The company has also added a few software updates to the new mirror that integrates playlists of how-to videos from YouTube.
Aside from the new ambient lights, the HiMirror Plus is the same as its predecessor, according to Engadget. Like HiMirror, one can easily take multiple selfies by simply holding their hand in front of the infrared sensor that detects the movements and then triggers a three-second countdown before snapping a photo. The device can also be paired with the HiMirror mobile app to read one's skin complexion.
