The Samsung Galaxy A5 2016 could receive the Android 7.0 Nougat update soon.
The Galaxy A5 has been spotted on benchmarking website Geekbench and the Jan. 7 listing reveals that it is running the latest Android OS. On Geekbench, the Samsung phone tested has the model number SM-A525F which is a Galaxy A5 2017 variant. However, the model number does not match the phone's actual specs.
The Galaxy A5 2017 runs on an Exynos 7880 processor with 3 GB of RAM. The device spotted, on the other hand, has an Exynos 7580 processor with 2 GB of RAM. It also has an octa-core CPU with 1.6 GHz speed. The phone seen on Geekbench matches a Galaxy A5 2016 model.
The Samsung Galaxy A5 2016 was launched in December 2015 with the Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A7. In January 2016, it was released in Europe. The Galaxy A5 comes preloaded with Android 5.1 Lollipop and was updated to Android Marshmallow later on. The phablet features a 5.2-inch Full HD display with a 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution. The Galaxy A5 comes with 16 GB of storage, a 13 megapixels rear camera and a five megapixels front snapper. It sports a 2900 mAh battery and a fingerprint scanner embedded in the device's Home button.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge may receive the Android 7.0 Nougat operating system by the end of January while the Galaxy A5 2016 may get it within the first quarter of this year.
The Android Nougat will bring new features to the Galaxy A5 2016, fix bugs and issues and improve overall performance. It is said to bring a tweaked user interface with instant control toggles and space-efficient notifications. It comes with quick switch and multi-window for excellent multitasking. Android Nougat will also adopt the Vulkan API support which improves gaming and VR quality.
