Instagram has started testing out a major change to its platform – multi-photo galleries. The multi-photo galleries feature will allow Instragram users to upload numerous images in a single post, creating quasi-photo-albums. The new feature is still in a beta stage.
It works by letting users choose up to 10 images and upload them as a carousel-style click-through, with separate filters and edits available for each.
The followers will be able to see the album and slide through the various shots, liking photos while scanning them. The capability is built into the current Android beta, but the galleries would not be posted on user’s timelines yet.
The feature is merely not working in its current state but that is the reason why it is being sent out as a test or beta and the Instagram staff has not yet advertising it currently. The new feature was posted on the 10.7.0 update of Instagram.
This feature has been available for Instagram advertisers for a while. The company added the feature for advertisers in March 2015 and it has been the exclusive tool of those willing to give the company money in order to promote their wares and services.
These quasi-photo-albums of Instagram are part of many features that the company has been rolling out lately. There have been other features that are identical to Snapchat, Instagram’s biggest rival for the teen market. Other features that may be included in the future are regram function and scheduled posts, which are common requests from Instragram users.
Instagram official did not comment on the beta feature.
