Tech giant Microsoft recently announced a new line of premium models of the Surface Book and Surface Pro 4 computers. These new models sport additional memory as well as upgraded storage for users who need extra space in storing their files.

Microsoft announces that it is also planning to release a gold version of the Surface Pen accessory. The price of the new Surface Pen was not released, but it was confirmed that it will be sold separately.

According to Digital Trends, the premium models of the Surface Book and the Surface Pro 4 sport an Intel Core i7 processor, 16 GB of internal memory and a massive 1TB of storage space. Additionally, the new models of Surface Book can now be integrated with a discrete Nvidia graphics card.

According to PC World, the integration of Nvidia graphics card on the high-end Surface Book model could be the game changer. It also helps the laptop stand out from the rest of everybody else.

Many tech analysts said that, with the latest upgrades on the Surface Book and Surface Pro 4, Microsoft is knocking on the doors of PC purists who are looking for a powerful hybrid system. It is no wonder that Microsoft is selling the Surface brand with a banner "the tablet that can replace your laptop."

Compared to some high-tiered tablets on the market like the Apple MacBook Pro, the Surface Pro and the Surface Book cost more.

All three devices - MacBook Pro, Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book - sport 16 GB of internal memory, 1TB of storage space and an Intel Core i7 processor. While the Surface Pro 4 and the MacBook Pro share the same price tag of $2,699, the Surface Book is a bit on the expensive side with a $3,199 price tag.

Some analysts said that Microsoft is taking the game right into Apple's doorstep by invading the premium tablet market. Although this market only accounts to a small fraction of the overall tablet industry, consumers on this segment of the market are among the most dedicated and are always ready to shell out top-dollars should a worthy device is released.
