Several reports have surface on Jan. 22 claiming that Apple veteran Steve Zadesky, initially thought to be calling the shots of the company's Project Titan car initiative, has informed some of his co-workers about his plans about leaving the company.
The report was first picked by The Wall Street Journal claiming that the 16-year Apple veteran is quitting Apple for "personal reasons." Zadesky is known primarily for his extensive work on the design of the iPod and iPhone line of devices.
Reports are still not clear whether Zadesky's decision to leave Apple is related to his ongoing electric car project. It has been reported several times in the past that the team working on the Apple car project are encountering a hard time in setting and meeting their goals.
Despite these massive setbacks, Apple is still positive about Project Titan. The Cupertino-based tech giant is looking to finalize the engineering phase of the project by 2019. Experts believe that once engineering is done with it, the car will only take a couple of years before it starts to hit the road.
A report by Apple Insider way back in September 2015 claims that Apple is facing serious manufacturing problems with its electric car project. The tech company has even entertained the possibility of partnering with an established car manufacturer just to make the project work.
There are reports that the sheer size of the project is just too much for Apple to handle. Rumors claim that the tech giant is also considering building a separate and permanent car facility for Project Titan somewhere in San Jose.
Zadesky, a former Ford engineer, was tied to the Apple electric car project in February 2015. During that time, reports claim that he is leading a team composed of at least a hundred employees. At around that time as well, Apple was on a massive hiring campaign even offering interesting salaries to engineers working in other tech companies.
Apple's hiring drive was even viewed by some tech experts as a poaching campaign since Apple is enticing workers from other tech companies like Tesla to join its ranks.
