HIV and AIDS cure have been highly sought the past decade. With the latest technology and medical advancement made, HIV/AIDS breakthrough are now being reported worldwide.

One of the most recent HIV/AIDS advances is the vaccine developed at the University of Oxford. The said vaccine has kept five out of 15 patients free from HIV, including one patient that been cleared for seven months now. The said vaccine developed by Oxford researchers primes the immune system to ward off HIV-infected cells, according to Labiotech.

This latest HIV vaccine has been observed to boost the immune system thousand times stronger compared to other vaccines. This latest breakthrough utilizes primarily cancer drug that activates HIV reservoirs, making the immune system more efficient in eliminating latent viruses.

The latest medical breakthrough in the efforts to curb HIV and AIDS incidents has a promising potential, but it is still too early to celebrate. Moreover, aside from the newly discovered vaccine, another technology promises to boost the campaign for HIV/ AIDS cure and prevention.

Boston-based Intarcia Therapeutics Inc. has developed a much reliable device to increase HIV protection and prevention. The device is known as "Medici Drug Delivery System" aims to help individuals stick to their medication routine while having fewer worries for acquisition, storage, and even remembering to take HIV/ AIDS drugs.

"Delivering drugs via our new technology has the potential to open up a new way of delivering novel medicines just once-yearly. One of the biggest problems in chronic diseases is millions of patients lack effective control of their condition due to the sub-optimal effectiveness of their medication," Med Gadget quoted Intarcia Therapeutics CEO Kurt Graves as saying.

However, similar to the vaccine, the said device is still to be perfected to form part of a more sophisticated approach to the said disease. Definite HIV and AIDS cure are still far from being realized, more studies and experimentation are needed to secure solution this year and the years to come.
