The Energy Observer is the world's first hydrogen-powered yacht to sail from Paris this coming May.
From a previous racing boat into an outstanding competitor that will prepare to open a new path, an autonomous navigation with hydrogen. One of the challenges for architects, engineers, and navigators is to obtain for autonomy, but thanks to the combined energy and the decarbonised generation of hydrogen from seawater that made things possible.
According to Delafosse, Energy Observer will explore to discover and share solutions for a cleaner future. The ship will have a 6-year journey to visit 50 countries with 101 stops to observe innovative solutions for the environment. The major mission of Energy Observer is to promote the development of renewable energies, meet the world's design today, what will be the world of tomorrow, and prove that it is possible to have a cleaner world.
The development of renewable energies is the way forward, given the fact that greenhouse gas emissions need to reduce immediately. But renewable energies are inherently variable and intermittent that requires optimization of energy storage facilities.
The most abundant chemical element in the universe is hydrogen (H). It shows immense potential to be a storage and valorization of renewable energies. However, the real challenge is how to produce it at a small cost and in a way that is decarbonized. The research and development process of Energy Observer project is being carried out. This is to prove and show the performance of the new energy model and serves an example around the world.
