Dubbed the Galaxy X, the foldable smartphone is expected to revolutionize the entire mobile industry. (YouTube)
After the company recently unveiled the Galaxy S8, all eyes are on Samsung. Critics seem to be pleased with the new smartphone, but that it is not all the Korean company has to offer. Samsung will unveil another flagship device in the coming months, and it is not the Note 8.
Dubbed the Galaxy X, the foldable smartphone is expected to revolutionize the entire mobile industry. Some tech companies have been reportedly working on a foldable device, but Samsung will take the lead. According to GSM Arena, the technology will be officially revealed as early as the third quarter of the year.

As Q3 is occupied, where does that leave the Note 8? The flagship phablet is reportedly not coming until Q4, which is much later than previously believed.
Following the Note 7 fiasco, Samsung may be placing its bets on the Galaxy X to recuperate its losses. If the foldable phone technology proves to be a hit, the company will forever bask in the glory of being the first to introduce it to the market.
However, it is not expected to be mass-produced from the start. A limited amount of units will be sold to test the waters first before plunging into the market. Customers may have to wait until 2018 to get one if Samsung decides to release it in higher quantity.
It appears that the Galaxy Note 8 would face stiff competition from the iPhone 8 on the market. But with its 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display with 4K resolution, it is not far behind the competition BGR reports. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 is expected to power the device coupled with 6GB of RAM.
