A classic and an amusement bumper car has set a new Guinness World Record as the fastest at a speed of 100 Mph. This is a 1960 bumper car, which was overhauled by Colin Furze an amateur inventor and engineer. Furze has made the 1960 amusement car into a fast machine for the British car show "Top Gear".

This is not the first time that the engineer-inventor, Furze has garnered the Guinness World Record. Previously, he had set the fastest baby stroller and the fastest mobility scooter. The bumper car used a 600cc Honda motorcycle engine. To keep the bumper car's original appearance, the inventor has to maintain the chassis and the size of the wheel. This is a requirement for qualification in the Guinness world record criteria.

In a report by Digitaltrends, the creation of the fastest bumper car started with the removal of the heavy parts like the protective bumper. The inventor then added the go-cart rear axle with double wheels for the rear and a single wheel for the front. Improvising of the bumper car includes the fixing of the steering, shifter, radiator and other important parts.

In the actual Guinness World Record tests, The Stig, Top Gear's professional driver took the driver seat and drove the bumper car to its record - breaking speed at 100.336 mph. The bumper car did a good job on the tracks and Furze got a thumbs up from the Guinness adjudicator, Lucia Sinigagliesi.

Likewise, The Stig made the Guinness drive extraordinarily exciting because he's a race track driver who drives sports cars and not bumper cars. For more update of Colin Furze's engineering and inventions for the Guinness world records, stay tuned to Telegiz.
