Last month, HTC just announced the Sapphire Edition HTC U Ultra in Taiwan. The special edition smartphone is said to hit Europe in a couple of days. The special edition HTC U Ultra will boast a screen with level-9 Mohs hardness unlike the regular HTC U Ultra. This is the main reason why the special edition is a little more expensive compared to the regular one.
The regular HTC U Ultra only has 64GB of internal storage and is priced at only €699 which converts at $750. On the other hand, the Sapphire Edition HTC U Ultra has 12GB of internal storage and costs €849 which converts at $900. The material used in the special edition smartphone is reported to have the same durability as most high-class watches which has an strong resistance to scratches.
According to a report by Phone Arena, aside from the durability and storage capacity, the two smartphones is basically the same. The HTC U Ultra sports a 5.7-inch display with 1440 x 2560-pixel resolution. It also comes with a 2.05-inch secondary display with a 160 x 1040-pixel resolution.
The HTC U Ultra will run on Android Nougat out from the box and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset. In terms of camera, it will have a 12MP rear camera and 16MP for the front camera. A fingerprint sensor is located at the front and its battery will have 3000mAh. Finally, it will have the Quick Charge 3.0 feature and will be available in four color ways.
In terms of availability of the special edition smartphones, reports are saying that pre-orders for HTC U Ultra Sapphire Edition are already starting in Germany and Switzerland. The smartphone will then be available in the said countries on April 18. It is also reported that the Sapphire HTC U Ultra will also come in several other European countries in the upcoming weeks.
