Xiaomi has released the Mi 6 flagship smartphone in April 2017 with latest Snapdragon 835 SoC. However, it is rumored that the new flagship phone will be not coming to India.
The China-based company has already established itself in the Indian market in past few years. Xiaomi has become a very popular brand in India by primarily focussing on selling cheaper phones such as Redmi Note and Redmi series smartphones. Xiaomi is unlikely to launch the Mi 6 flagship phone in India. Instead, it will introduce some other high-end phones such as the upcoming Mi MIX 2 or Mi Note 3.
It will be quite disappointing for the fans who waited for the Xiaomi Mi 6 to get released in India. One of the reasons for not launching the Xiaomi Mi 6 in India is that the company thinks the phone is more expensive to sell in Indian market. It may release the phone in future, but currently Xiaomi has no plans for selling the Mi 6 flagship phone in the country.
In April 2016, Xiaomi had released the Mi 5 phone in three variants like Pro, Prime and Standard. Even though the smartphone comes with impressive specs, it did not meet good sales in India.
The reason is said to be mainly because Xiaomi did not launch the higher-end variants in India, but launched only the cheaper variant. Xiaomi's Mi 5 was perceived by the audience as a lower configuration phone in comparison to OnePlus 3. While both the phones carry similar price tags, the Xiaomi Mi 5 could not compete, with OnePlus 3's popularity
Xiaomi's former global Vice President, Hugo Barra stated several times that "it was a mistake not bringing the 64 GB Xiaomi Mi 5 to India." He further said that the company should have launched the 64 GB Prime variant instead of focusing on its pricing. If it had released 64 GB model things would have been different, IndiaToday reported. The China-based tech giant is said to be busy with Mi Note 3 that is expected to get launched in the Q3 of 2017. It will be the successor of the Mi Note 2 which was released in November 2016. The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 is likely to get launch alongside the Mi Note 3.
