Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei announced that the company was able to ship more than 10 million units of the P8 Lite smartphone. Huawei was able to able the milestone in just a matter of nine months following the P8 Lite's release in Europe.

Huawei is making record-breaking feats recently. Globally, the P8 series of smartphones have reached 16 million users in total. The figure represents the total number of units sold and not the total number of units shipped. It is important to note that shipping a device does not equate to a sold device.

Huawei, a company known for devices with high-end specs at affordable prices, is one of the most dominant smartphone manufacturer in Asia and has been making waves in other international markets.

The Huawei P8 Lite has a 5.0-inch IPS LCD display with 1280 x 720 resolution. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 3. At its heart lies the HiSilicon Kirin 620 chipset which is developed by Huawei. The chipset has a Cortex A53 octa-core 1.2GHz processor paired with a Mali 450 quad-core graphics processing unit.

The P8 Lite has 2GB of memory and 16GB of expandable storage. It has a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Powering the device is a 2,200 mAh non-removable battery, according to Android Authority.

The P8 Lite runs on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop operating system right out of the box. On top of the Android platform is the heavily skinned Emotion 3.1 UI, a user interface developed by Huawei.

Huawei claims that the successful release of the P8 Lite helped the company build a strong reputation outside of its native land. Huawei was able to ship 108 million smartphone in 2015, this represents a 44 percent increase compared to its performance in 2014.

Huawei also said that the P8 Lite is company's first smartphone to achieve higher sales output in international markets than in China.

Huawei is just one of the many tech companies that are making it big outside of China. Companies like Oppo, Xiaomi and Meizu all have strong and dedicated followers in its native land. However, these companies are also successful in other Asian markets according to Ubergizmo.
