"Clash of Clans" is back on top of the iOS charts of grossing performance for the longest time since February 2016. Thanks to the massive Builder Base Update, Supercell's hit strategy game is still hailed the king of mobile games.
Apparently, the release of the big and different update has taken an immediate effect on "Clash of Clans" grossing performance rank when it became number one on May 22 and remained on the top spot until May 26, Pocket Gamer reported. It then slipped to second placed and stayed in lower ranks but bounced back as top 1 on May 29.
The publication pointed out that this is the longest time "Clash of Clans" landed at the top as highest grossing app on iPhone charts in the US for nine days. It notably toppled other popular mobile games made available for iOS devices.
Although it di not hold the top spot for more than a month, it still shows that the Supercell's crown jewel is tough to beat. Based on the records, it only missed being on the top 10 of the grossing performers only once in 2016.
Moreover, the total revenues are impressively high as well. It ranked as the the mobile game to generate third highest revenue in April 2017.
Supercell brought in a chock-full of new content to the game via free update last May. Players were introduced to a new island, which is known as the Builder Base, 1v1 PvP battle mode, new units, buildings, and a lot more.
However, the Builder Base Update for "Clash of Clans" disappointed fans when the game developer set a three-match loot limit. The development team has received complaints from players via reddit AMA.
But Supercell asserts that the three-match loot limit is not going anywhere and is "here to stay." Its purpose is to bring some balance and it will also push players to take on different match types in "Clash of Clans".
