Following the hype of AMD Threadripper 16-core, 32-thread CPU, another variant is now being reported online. A next-gen 12-core, 24-thread Ryzen processor, is said to be being prepped to form part of Alienware system, somehow taking hold of Intel's market.
Dubbed as Threadripper 1920 CPU, the 12-core and 24-thread thread processor are said to run at a frequency of 3.2 GHz. The said processor appears to be the primary confirmed name of a Threadripper CPU, which is believed to be turning out for Alienware system, according to SegmentNext.
Now, this would not be the first time that a Ryzen processor has been linked to Alienware and other leading brands. In retrospect, Computer World previously pointed out that gaming PC makers like Dell's Alienware and Falcon Northwest, currently Intel dedicated, could offer Ryzen chips in their gaming PCs.
With the leaks concerning AMD Threadripper 1920 CPU, the likelihood of such scenario may soon happen. Intel might find a convincing rival with AMD's latest CPU lineup.
Meanwhile, the said leak concerning the Threadripper 1920 CPU also gave details about AMD 16-cores and 32-threads Ryzen chip. Based on the engineering sample, the 16-core processor has a clock of 3.4 GHz and boosts to 3.7 GHz.
The said new leak of the high-end Threadripper variant has improvement as compared to its previous leaks. However, changes could still happen, especially for its engineering sample.
Meanwhile, the release date of the Threadripper is scheduled later this year. Although nothing is yet confirmed, it is believed that other variants of the said processor will also be released, including 10-core Ryzen CPU.
As for the use of Threadripper CPU on Alienware products, further updates are still to be awaited. However, with the momentum and current demand for a Ryzen CPU, it would not be long for the said brand to incorporate AMD to their lineup. Therefore, giving Intel a challenger on the high-end gaming department.
