MSI presented its new gaming laptop called GT72S Tobii with eye tracking system at CES 2016 in January, which is now available to purchase.
The computer hardware company calls it the world’s most advanced gaming laptop. The GT72S G Tobii utilizes eye-tracking technology in-game to let you switch between targets, select objects, or pause gameplay using Tobii’s triple dual lens near-IR illuminators, which allows to track eye movements regardless of surrounding lighting conditions.
The laptop is designed to track eye movements even if the room is dark, something made possible via the inclusion of three dual lens illuminators described as being near IR. Furthermore, the feature works with real time gaming for platforms that are supported, including XSplit Gamecaster.
MSI Pan America President Andy Tung said that GT72S G Tobii includes another dimension to gaming experience. It offers a new level of interaction and immersion that has never been experienced before.
The GT72S G Tobii is compatible with both Windows 10 and Windows Hello, where users can log in to the PC with their face, with no more than a 15-second configuration process, Digital Trends reported. Alternately, users can use the eye-tracking tech to highlight, select, or even delete items with a simple glance or zoom and center maps without the need for traditional mouse and keyboard scrolling.
The news MSI gaming laptop includes quad-core Intel Core i7-6820HK CPU with clock speeds up to 3.6 GHz, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 980M GPU with 8GB of frame buffer, 32GB of DDR4 memory, and a 256GB solid state drive paired with a 1 TB hard drive.
It has 17.3-inch Full HD 1080p display, a backlit SteelSeries keyboard, and Nahimic sound technology. Other features include a Blu-ray burner, 801.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, Killer Gaming Network E2400 LAN, half a dozen USB 3.0 ports, a single USB Type-C port, mini DisplayPort, HDMI output, and a pair of 3W speakers with a woofer.
The MSI GT72S G Tobii is bundled with Tom Clancy’s “The Division” and with a price tag of $2,600 at the online retail store Newegg, according to Maximum PC.
