New updates for "Devil May Cry 5" will have details for the projects status and Ninja Theory no longer making "DmC: Devil May Cry" sequel.
"Dragons Dogma" and "Devil May Cry" director" Hideaki Itsuno made an update about his myterious video game project this year stating that his work is going "smoothly" and apologized to the gaming fans for not attending this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo last week, Gematsu reported.
Whether Itsuno's new project will be "Devil May Cry 5" or a new "Dragons Dogma" sequel, gaming fans were hoping that the new IP would appear in E3 2017, but sadly it did not. Although, "Devil May Cry" protagonist Dante was seen in as part of "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite's" roster.
Capcom promised gaming fans that they will revive some of their video game titles and "Devil May Cry 5" could possibly happened since the game series has been dormant for years, and remastered versions of "DmC: Devil May Cry" and "Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition" were featured in the PlayStation 4 console.
It was rumored that "Devil May Cry 5" will likely appear at the Tokyo Game Show 2017 event on Sept 21-24 in Chiba, Japan.
So far, Capcom and Itsuno himself has not made any comments regarding the new project making an appearance at TGS 2017.
With "Devil May Cry 5" being the most likely title to be revealed Itsuno this year, what will happen to Ninja Theory's version of the game series?
"Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice" creative director Tameem Antoniades told Gamerant in previous interview that the chances of making sequels for their games is will next to impossible.
Ninja Theory downplayed the idea of "DmC: Devil May Cry 2" in the future, stating that Capcom owns the rights to the "Devil May Cry," not to mention the fact reboot never achieved the same status as the original series. In order to kick off a project like that, Capcom would need to green light the project. Considering that "DmC" was a fan favorite, but not very profitable, the chances appear slim for a sequel.
Previous reports teased that "Resident Evil: Vendetta" producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi teased that he wants to make a film based on another Capcom video game.
When Kobayashi was asked if there were any plans to create films based on those specific Capcom franchises. He stated that he would like to make films based on "Devil May Cry," "Dino Crisis," or "Sengoku Basara."
Unfortunately, Kobayashi’s answer did not give a proper hint as to which game series will guarantee a CGI film debut, but the most likely candidate could be "Devil May Cry" since its popularity comes next to "Street Fighter" and "Resident Evil" series.
Gaming fans will just have to wait for more updates for "Devil May Cry 5" very soon.
