Microsoft Lumia 960 Rumors Begin; Snapdragon 820, 4 GB Of RAM, Iris Scanner And More

Rumors of the alleged Microsoft Lumia 960 smartphone have started. It is expected to arrive with high-end specs

A mysterious smartphone with model number RM-1162 has been spotted on the GFXBench benchmarking site. Nokia Power User reported. The specifications of the very same handset had surfaced in the previous week. The rumor mill has dubbed the handset as Microsoft Lumia 950 XL.

The alleged smartphone will be carrying support for Quad HD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels on its 5.5-inch display. The device will feature the Snapdragon 820 chipset under its hood that will be accompanied by 4 GB of RAM. The chipset features a 64-bit quad-core Kyro CPU and Adreno 530 graphics.

It will be coming with a native storage of 32 GB. Rumors suggest that it will be also available as 16 GB model. The smartphone is rumored to be housing a high-end camera but the GFXBench listing has incorrectly mentioned the rear camera as 7 MP.

Since the GFXBench listing also states that the rear camera supports 4K recording, the purported Lumia 960 has to feature a 13 MP or higher camera. Speculations indicate that it will be arriving with a 23 MP or 20MP shooter. For shooting selfies, the alleged Lumia 950 successor is rumored to feature 8 MP camera. It is also expected to feature an iris scanner.

The details on connectivity features and battery capacity are not mentioned on the GFXBench listing. However, other rumors have revealed that it will coming with a full metal design. It will arrive preinstalled with Windows 10 Mobile Redstone 1. As far as Lumia 960 release date is concerned, speculations indicate that it will be announced in the second or third quarter of 2016.

The Microsoft Lumia 950 XL that was announced in October last year is the most powerful Windows 10 Mobile smartphone from the company. However, all the new HP Elite X3 comes with better specs than the Lumia 950 XL, Win Beta reported.

Microsoft has already released a low-end Lumia 650 smartphone earlier this month. Since it comes with modest specs, it does not Continuum feature It is expected to announce the Lumia 850 smartphone in the next month. The Snapdragon 617 powered smartphone is expected to carry support for Continuum.
