The upcoming third-person shooter "The Division" closed its open beta stage on Feb. 22. Following the game's successful run, publisher Ubisoft announced that the game saw at least 6.4 million participants who played the game during the beta run.
Ubisoft claims that the open beta run of "The Division" made history by being the biggest ever for a new IP for games released in current generation consoles.
Ubisoft also shared some interesting stats regarding haw the 6.4 million gamers spent their time on the game. In a statement posted on the official "The Division" website, Ubisoft wrote, "On average, players spent around 5 hours playing as activated agent in The Division's open world."
The company added, "The PVP-enabled Zone proved to be particularly popular, with players spending around 2-hours in the PVP zone, with almost 50% of agents turning Rogue in the process."
Additionally, an open beta test is a good way for any upcoming video game to pinpoint possible bugs and flaws. In the case of "The Division," Ubisoft claims that a handful of bugs were detected by gamers to which the company promises it will fix.
Ubisoft also added that at least 63,309,800 contaminated items were successfully extracted by players out of the Dark Zone.
"The Division" is expected to hit the shelves on March 8. Ubisoft will simultaneously release the game on three platforms; Windows PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
On the other hand, Ubisoft said that it will have a different scheme when it comes to releasing future downloadable contents which will be part of the game's season pass.
Ubisoft said that future downloadable contents will first make its way on the Xbox One console and will be exclusive on that platform for 30 days. Upon completing the timeline, only then will the contents will be made available for Windows PC and PlayStation platforms.
Reports claim that Ubisoft is planning to release three paid expansions for "The Division."
"The Division" open beta phase started on Feb. 18 on Xbox One and on Feb. 19 for Windows PC and PlayStation 4. During the open beta, players are allowed to reach level eight in normal mode and up to level 12 in the Dark Zone, the PVP level.
According to IGN, all player progress in the open beta session will not be carried over once the game officially launches on Mar. 8.
