Consumers may never see the MacBook Air 2016 release and it could be because of the 12-inch Apple MacBook.
It is a brave move for tech company Apple to release new products to test new niches or to battle competition and take over the market. One of the new ventures of Apple is the 12-inch MacBook that is not under the MacBook Air or Pro umbrella.
The 12-inch Apple MacBook was a thinner version of MacBook Air notebook, but the device is ultra-portable, which is one of its selling points. It is like the middle ground of iPad and MacBook Pro. It is thinner and lighter than MacBook Pro, but a notch up when it comes to power compared to iPad.
There are rumors that Apple will axe MacBook Air in favor of the 12-inch MacBook. Rumors afloat that Apple is working on the second generation of Apple MacBook. MacWorld reported that MacBook Air 2016 will not materialize as the product line will be ceased due to the more powerful successor of 12-inch MacBook. The publication predicted that the 12-inch MacBook will most likely have a successor as it will celebrate its first birthday in March next year.
Moreover, with the existence of iPad Pro, it seems that MacBook Air lost its market and making a new one will cannibalize other Apple products. However, nothing is set on stone yet.
Meanwhile, other sources are saying that Apple will discontinue the 12-inch laptop since the public is still clamoring for the MacBook Air 2016.
MacBook Air and Pro 2016 are rumored to retain the sizes of the original, but will be packed with powerful specs and features, including the latest Intel Skylake processors. The laptops will also run with the latest OS X El Capitan.
It was rumored that MacBook Air 2016 release date is at Apple's annual Worldwide Developers' Conference (WWDC). It is most likely that MacBook Air will be released alongside MacBook Pro 2016 and iOS 10.
However, there is still no word from Apple regarding the details of the two MacBooks.
