New Razer Blade Is Cheaper And More Powerful Than Predecessors

Razer is back in business with a new Blade laptop, and this time around, it is lighter, faster, and, less expensive than the previous versions. Not every day a company announces a new product that is cheaper than the predecessors.

One of the issues we had with laptops from Razer, has to do with the specs and the high price the company demands. You see, the specifications were never at a point where we could say these devices would be able to play the latest games a 6 months or a year from now. Yes, the company was selling them for an arm and a leg.

Spending $2400 on a laptop that would become obsolete within the next year was never going to happen on our watch.

With the new Razer laptop, there's no need to worry about it becoming obsolete too soon.

The company's new Razer Blade sports a 14-inch display 3,200x1,800 pixels and a capacitive multi-touch screen. When it comes down to the graphic card, this bad boy is rocking a GTX 970M (6GB GDDR5 VRAM, Optimus technology), and an Intel Core i7-6700HQ quad-core processor with hyper-threading that runs at 2.6GHz or 3.5GHz.

In terms of RAM, the new Razer Blade is packing 16GB worth of DDR4, so expect this thing to move very fast. When it comes down to storage, the Razer Blade is kicking it with a 256GB SSD drive. We'd prefer 500GB, but storage can be upgraded due to the three USB 3.0 slots.

Now, overall, this is a solid laptop, but for some reason Razer decided to have the battery built-in. Should something terrible happens where the batter is concerned, it wouldn't be possible to just run to the nearest computer store for a replacement.

Razer should realize that it is not creating smartphones or tablets, but gaming laptops.

Would we still get a Razer?

Probably not seeing as the screen resolution is over the 1080p mark. Games usually run better at that resolution, so if we can get a gaming laptop with such a display and similar internal specs to the Razer Blade, we'd be all over it.

The new Razer Blade will retail for $2000 when it becomes available soon.
