Intensifying the competition in the phablet market, Huawei released its unlocked android driven GX8 for sale on GetHuawei, Amazon, BestBuy and Newegg at an affordable price of $349.99. This newbie was first displayed in the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this January.

Secured with a 5.5-inch scratch resistant screen with a pretty 1920x1080 fully HD display, this curvy beauty boasts a 13MP rear and a 5MP front snapper. With Android 5.1 (lollipop) powered with Qualcomm Snapdragon 615, the Huawei GX8 handset is available in three premium colours - Horizon Gold, Space Grey and Mystic Champagne. Looking at the price and a full metal body, it may give brands like LG, Motorola and Google's very own Nexus some fight, according to a comparison made by Silicon Angle.

Also, Huawei has tried to keep them ahead in the market by bringing consumer-friendly features like finger swaps and taps for several basic uses, other than the fingerprint sensor. The 2GB RAM and 16GB internal memory, which can be expanded to 128GB, seems decent in its class. However, while other brands having already established a market in the U.S., Huawei is still trying to find some ground to plant itself firmly.

There may be a fear that all its delectable features may fall short in the competition. The reason could be more than just its weight, which at 167g, isn't much flattering as compared to a 136g weighing Nexus 5X; however, at 7.5mm, it may appear slimmer than Nexus and Moto X Pure.

Talking about the apprehensions, according to Slash Gear, the company has once been under the scanner for allegedly trying to spy on the Chinese govt. The doubts grew more when it reportedly decided not to upgrade its Ascend Mate 2 OS from Jellybean to KitKat, a decision that was soon withdrawn.

Huawei is has taken a dicey plunge into the mid-range competition, but the consumers' consideration is often known to turn a company's fate.
