The tech community was shocked when Samsung unveiled its latest line of smart refrigerators. Following the company's 2016 Consumer Electronics Show press conference demo, tech analysts were convinced that Samsung's fridge is powerful and revolutionary.
Dubbed the Family Hub refrigerator series, it is the latest set of smart home appliances from the South Korean tech giant. Tech analyst is seriously considering the latest Samsung fridge to be the runaway winner of CES 2016.
The Family Hub fridge sports a 21.5-inch display screen which is considered by many critics to be the centerpiece of the appliance. The fridge has an integrated and tweaked version of Samsung's Tizen operating system.
Tizen is behind some of Samsung's popular product like the Gear S2 smartwatch and a wide array of its smart TVs. The fridge, just like other Tizen running devices, can display the current weather, calendar updates, photos and it even supports online video contents. The smart fridge also has speakers situated at the bottom of its doors which can be connected to external speakers via Bluetooth, according to Yahoo.
What puts Samsung's latest smart fridge on top of everybody else is its features. The Family Hub fridge has internal cameras that detect what type of groceries is needed without the need for the user to open the fridge itself. What is more interesting is that users of the high-tech fridge can simply use the display device to order provisions through the Groceries option of the Mastercard app.
The Samsung Family Hub line of refrigerators also supports online audio streaming via Pandora.
Aside from its latest cutting edge fridges, Samsung promises that it is bringing smart technologies into its television range. By incorporating smart technologies into TVs, users can control smart home devices with just a few button tap.
In a statement acquired by The National, Jacky's Electronics chief operating officer Ashish Panjabi said, "We'll probably start seeing these televisions in [the UAE] later this year, and they should make the home automation market much more interesting. Trying to persuade people to buy a separate smart home hub was a challenge for them before, but if it comes built into your TV set the use-case becomes a lot more compelling."
