Amazon's Dash buttons have received 70 new products for the retail giant's instant ordering service giving Amazon Prime customers over 100 products to choose from. The Wi-Fi-enabled buttons now allow customers to order tons of new products including Doritos, Red Bull, Starbucks, Vitamin Water, Charmin, Energizer, and even Trojans. Amazon.com is also giving new Dash button customers a $5 credit on their online purchases.
Daniel Rausch is director of Amazon Dash. He shared in a statement on the Amazon website that Dash Button orders have skyrocketed over 75 percent, according to NBC News. The company's customers are using the virtual buttons more than once per minute so they are always stocked up on their everyday essentials.
Amazon now allows customers to make easy purchases of products ranging from baby formula to paper towels, and from coffee to detergent. Some of the current Dash brands include Gatorade, Tide, Gillette, Ziploc, Kraft Mac & Cheese, Maxwell House, and Huggies.
Amazon launched the Dash Buttons one year ago and it now includes new categories including snacks, drinks, and batteries.
Amazon prints the product's name or logo directly on the Dash button. This helps to prevent customers from ordering the wrong product. In addition, a new order cannot be placed until the latest one is delivered, to prevent kids from pressing a Doritos or Gatorade button over and over, for example.
The concept behind the service is that Amazon Prime subscribers buy the digital buttons for about $5. Then customers just have to press a particular button to replenish an item that is running out. Amazon hopes that this will boost customer loyalty so online shoppers do not buy their basic products from other online stores.
Dash buttons also benefit participating companies. Energizer's Chief Consumer Officer Michelle Atkinson shares that that it helps to prevent Amazon customers from buying batteries from rival companies such as Duracell and Everready.
The list of new Dash buttons includes several big-name products. Some examples are Angel Soft, Arm & Hammer Cat Litter, Brawny, Clorox, Downy, Hunt's Tomatoes, L'Oréal Paris Revitalift, Lysol, Nature Valley, Ocean Spray, Orville Redenbacher's Gourmet Popping Corn, OxiClean, Purina Beyond, Quaker, and Schick Men's Razors, according to The Verge.
