The first generation Apple Watch was released almost a year ago in April of 2015. The Apple device has since went on to become the best-selling wearable device at the time. The first six hours of the initial pre-order period in 2015 charted a whopping one million Apple Watch orders. Moreover, Time Magazine has listed the device as one of the 25 Best Innovations in 2014.
However, everyone is impressed with the Apple watch. Fitbit CEO, James Park, have recently spoken about the Apple Watch and his views are less than favorable.
In an interview with the Telegraph, Park reveals that while he thinks the Apple Watch is a great product, he believes it is a device that tries to do too much. He further explains that the Fitbit is in no competition with the Apple gadget.
"Really our research has shown that people who search for an interest in the Apple Watch do not overlap with people who search for and are interested in Fitbit" explained Park.
Despite some critics, there is no denying the anticipation over the upcoming release of the Apple Watch's second generation, the Apple Watch 2.
Not a lot has been confirmed by Apple's wearable device. However, according to a report by Techradar, Apple enthusiasts should expect the smart watch around June or September. The article further claims that the watch should be announced alongside either the iOS 10 at Apple's WWDC 2016 event or the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, which is expected to be confirmed in September.
Moreover, the Apple Watch 2 is expected to run on Watch OS 2. The updated operating system would provide better app support and the ability to watch videos and reply to emails. The new device might also be able to provide basic communication functions without being paired with an iPhone.
The pricing for the Apple Watch 2, like its specifications, has yet to be confirmed. However, the first generation Apple Watch initially went for $349. The price significantly dropped to $249 during Black Friday last year. The price stayed at mid-$200 since. Apple enthusiasts are hopeful that the Apple Watch 2 would be made available for $250.
