Google has been working on developing keyboard for iOS devices. Google is going to include variety of interesting features in the keyboard so that it attracts lot of customers; however, it is not yet known when the keyboard will be made available to the public.

According to a report by the Verge, this initiative by Google aims at making maximum use of the search engine. Several search features and the Swype option is going to be included in the keyboard. The addition of new features makes it very different from Google's Virtual Keyboard for Stock Android. This keyboard has buttons incorporated for searching GIF and pictures. Also, when the user taps on the Google logo, it displays the traditional searches. The Swype feature guesses the next word that the user wants to type as he moves from letter to letter.

As a matter of fact, these kinds of searches are more useful in desktop systems. In mobile devices, however, for usual searches like "Gmail" or "Facebook," there are apps installed which help in easier access when compared to web searches. According to John Jackson, IDC's research Vice President, on mobile devices the web search frequency is much lower.

Raskind said that when Apple has Siri, there is no chance that it would go for Google Voice. He also remarked that composing with soft QWERTY has become more efficient with features like Swype. Also, the character by character keyboard of Apple is perfect and has been good in soft keyboard feature when compared historically.

As of now, Google has a team that develops apps for iOS, and till now has developed 64 apps for iOS, wherein all popular apps like Gmail, Chrome, YouTube, Google Maps are included. From iOS 8, Apple has been very supportive with third-party apps, so Google is very keen in waiting its keyboard implementation.
