Xiaomi's sub-brand Huami Amazfit smartwatch with built-in GPS and a 200 mAh battery has been launched in China for $120 (799 yuan/approximately Rs. 8000).
According to Phone Radar, the Amazfit smartwatch is the first ever smartwatch from Huami. It is also the world's first smartwatch to be equipped with 28nm GPS sensor.
The bezel of the Amazfit smartwatch is made of ceramic, making it scratch resistant. The wristband is replaceable, and the dial can be attached to any other 22nm band. The dial is at the back and has a heart sensor that can continuously keep track of the user's heart rate, unlike the Mi bands. The device also supports Bluetooth 4.0 LE, NFC, and Wi-Fi radios.
The Amazfit smartwatch has a 1.34-inch display with a resolution of 300 x 300 pixels. It comes with a 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of internal storage. It runs on an unspecified 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, not Google's smartwatch operating system Android Wear, Digital Trends reported.
The Amazfit smartwatch is packed with a 200 mAh battery that can last up to five days of battery life. If the GPS mode is turned on, it can provide 35 hours of battery life, and if it is tracking steps only, it can give up to 11.6 days, making it useful for camping trips in the wilderness.
The Amazfit smartwatch can be connected to any Android device with the Xiaomi's MiFit app on Android and iOS to provide incoming social media messages, calls, texts, and reminders. It can also be used for on-the-go payments with Alibaba's mobile payment service AliPay.
