Apple is now selling Sonos wireless speakers - a move towards full-fledged wireless audio connectivity that began with the iPhone 7's shedding off of the standard headphone jack.
Sonos is a sound company that has the best wireless speakers currently available in the market, according to Tech Crunch.
Sonos announced that the Sonos PLAY:1 and PLAY:5 wireless speakers would be available online on the Apple Store in the United States October 5.
In addition to bringing two of its speakers to Apple Stores, Sonos said that it is giving a bonus: those who purchase a Sonos system either physically in Apple Stores or virtually through Apple.com between today and December 31 will be given a free Apple Music gift card, allowing free trial access for three months.
"Our expanded collaboration with Apple," explains Sonos president Patrick Spence, "is a great example of our ongoing work with our full ecosystem of partners to make it easier than ever to listen to music out loud at home,"
To let the public experience how powerful this audio partnership could be, Sonos and Apple will be giving shoppers the chance to have a first-hand experience through a hands-on demo using the Sonos iOS app on an iPad Pro. Demo stations will be found in over 140 Apple Stores.
"Apple Music on Sonos is a powerful experience," Spence continued, "one we're proud to bring directly to Apple fans at Apple Stores worldwide."
A testing ground?
MacWorld reported that according to some people, Apple could just be using Sonos to test the smart speaker market before releasing their own speaker through Beats.
A report by Variety last year stated that Apple was working on a speaker which is expected to sell at about $750.
