AT&T has announced that the launch of its DirecTV Now service will be held next month and it will be priced attractively.

The online video streaming service is said to cost only $35 USD per month, including mobile streaming fees. According to AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson, the upcoming service will target customers who do not want to pay cable TV anymore.

AT&T DirecTV Now will be released in November with over 100 channels. Stephenson said this is only the start as the company has bigger plans to disrupt the cable TV market by offering a cheaper alternative to TV subscriptions. "Thirty-five dollars, you don't find that for a hundred channels in the marketplace, with wireless streaming," he said.

AT&T bought DirecTV last year and has since become the biggest pay-TV operator in the US with 25.3 million video subscribers. The company also wants to acquire Time Warner for $85.4 billion USD to boost content and establish the brand in the media and entertainment market.

AT&T hopes that mobile video will be a new source of revenue as the U.S. wireless market is currently in a slump. AT&T is shifting toward online video consumption and it wants to go big on the trend. The market is pretty crowded, though. Sling TV offers around 24 channels for $20 USD per month while the Sony PlayStation Vue is priced $55 USD per month for over 100 channels. Meanwhile, Hulu plans to launch a live TV bundle in 2017, combining cable network and broadcast channels.
