The new "DOTA 2" update is massive, with major changes not only in terrain but also in gameplay mechanics. Gamers and analysts agree that this is by far the biggest update to be rolled out to the widely played MOBA game.
One major change is the location of Roshan, the giant neutral creep that provides the Aegis of the Immortal. Roshan will be moved up the river, a move that could dramatically change the game's current meta.
Another major addition to "DOTA 2" is the introduction of Skill Trees, a feature that is somewhat similar to a feature in "Heroes of the Storm" and "League of Legends." Each hero will have its set of skill trees a which players can activate on certain levels, according to Polygon.
Valve is also introducing a new backpack feature which allows heroes to carry extra items. A new building called the Shrine were also added into the gameplay map. The New Journey update will also introduce a new in-game layout and pre-game presentation.
As with all previous "DOTA 2" patches and updates, The New Journey brings in massive hero skill updates. Almost every hero received a minor tweak in their current skill settings, as well as a handful of them receiving a facelift.
Based on the reaction shared by gamers on several forums, The New Journey update offers a massive gameplay change, and since the update is being released in the latter part of the year, it should also usher a new direction for the game in the coming year.
The complete changelog of the "DOTA 2" The New Journey update can be accessed on the game's official website.
