The invitations sent to the tech leaders execs were reportedly signed by Trump's adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner, chief of staff Reince Priebus, and billionaire investor Peter Thiel, according to CNN.
Thiel was one of Trump's staunch supporter during his campaign. He has been the president-elect's link to Silicon Valley.
So far, a handful of prominent tech leaders are yet to confirm that they will be meeting with Trump. Among these figures are Twitter chief executive officer Jack Dorsey and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. Trump relied heavily on Twitter to rally support during his campaign. On the other hand, Bezos is also the owner of the Washington Post which had an extensive coverage of Trump's presidential campaign.
Silicon Valley, along with a vast majority of the tech industry, have voiced concerns regarding Trump's presidency with some claiming that he would be bad for innovation. An open letter was signed by 145 tech leaders against Trump. Among the prominent figures to sign the letter were Apple cofounder Steve Wozniak, Reddit cofounder Alexis Ohanian, Slack chief executive officer Stewart Butterfield, and Wikipedia cofounder Jimmy Wales.
