Twitch, a live-streaming video platform owned by Twitch Interactive, is introducing a new automated tool designed to create a "positive and inclusive chat experience."
According to Twitch, the new moderation tool, called AutoMod, uses a combination of machine learning and natural language processing technologies.

The inclusion of AutoMod is meant to block content deemed inappropriate and flag potentially troublesome content for review by a human mod later on (such comments will be held in a publishing queue until they get approval).
Since AutoMod is an opt-in feature, one would not see it on every channel. Additionally, the streamers will be able to adjust how much to filter the chat according to their personal preference. Twitch has a robust set of moderation tools, which let streamers do things like ban specific words, links, or phrases, force users to view a set of rules before they can chat, employ community moderators, or allow only subscribed users to be part of the discussion.
"For the first time ever, we're empowering all of our creators to establish a reliable baseline for acceptable language and around the clock chat moderation," said Ryan Kennedy, Twitch moderation lead of AutoMod. Twitch said that the feature has been under development for several months and that a trial run of the feature was conducted during the Republican and Democratic National Conventions.
The full version of AutoMod is currently available only in English, but it is in beta for multiple languages like Arabic, Russian, Czech, and French.
A subsidiary of Amazon, Twitch was introduced in June 2011. The site mainly focuses on video gaming and more recently, music broadcasts. The site content can be viewed both live or via video on demand.
