South Korean electronics major Samsung has unveiled an updated edition of its Family Hub smart refrigerators under the name of Family Hub 2.0 at CES 2017 with voice recognition that can be used to add products to shopping lists.
The internet-connected fridge can also read out recipes to users. Family members can create their profiles on the fridge's 21.5-inch LED touchscreen to share memos, photos, and reminders.

The next-generation refrigerator, building upon Family Hub 1.0 which was introduced last year, features expansion from four to 10 refrigerator models as well as enhanced usability with improved app integration. Additionally, Samsung also introduced a new line of smart built-in cooking appliances.
Family Hub 2.0 would be available across a full range of Samsung's 3-Door and 4-Door French Door models as well as the existing 4-Door Flex lineup.
Byung-Sam Seo, president of Home Appliances at Samsung Electronics, said that the new Family Hub 2.0 takes flexibility and functionality to a whole new level by helping consumers better manage and enjoy their lives. For instance, users can determine which food items are running low through the internal cameras. Images of those items can then be added to the shopping list feature and ordered through the integrated app. Also, the Recipe app, powered by AllRecipes, reads out recipes to make it easier for users to multi-task in the kitchen while accessing recipe content from around the world.
The Family Hub 2.0 also has an entirely new and easy-to-use interface to enable family members to create their profiles using avatars or their personal pictures. With the 21.5-inch LED touchscreen, family members can share photos, access updated calendars, handwrite memos in real time, and post them from wherever they may be through the app.
According to Samsung's news blog, the Family Hub has been honored by the CES Innovation Award twice; first with Family Hub 1.0 in 2016 and again this year in the home appliances and software/UI categories.
