GMC, General Motor's truck division, revealed the new and redesigned 2018 Terrain SUV on Sunday, ahead of the North American International Auto Show. This is the first time the Terrain SUV has received a major facelift both on its exterior and interior since the truck was introduced way back in 2009.

The new design suggests a more car-like crossover shift. The new Terrain sports a sculpted body including the grille, as well as new lighting features. The Terrain's new design is more aerodynamic compared to the current model.
In a statement acquired by USA Today, GMC Executive Design Director Helen Emsley said, "It is a striking design with functional beauty. There's confidence and optimism in its stance, with exceptional attention to detail."
On the engine side, the 2017 GMC Terrain will be available in three variants, including a new turbo-diesel model. The SUV will be available in four trims; SL, SLE, SLT, and a high-end Denali trim. The available turbocharged engines are the new 1.5-liter, 2-liter turbo gas, and 1.5-liter turbo diesel. Each engine can be configured with either of the two unique nine-speed automatic transmissions.
The 2018 GMC Terrain Denali model will sport a satin chrome grille. It will also have chrome roof rails, side mirror caps, door handles, and body-side molding. The Denali comes with LED headlamps and 19-inch aluminum wheel set.
The 2017 GMC Terrain has a standard driver-controlled traction select system. This feature has a handful of choices to fit into almost any driving condition. The all-wheel drive model of the new Terrain includes a front-wheel drive option to minimize drag and increase fuel efficiency, according to Auto Blog.
Among the confirmed safety technologies for the 2018 GMC Terrain are surround vision, forward collision alert with distance indicator, low-speed forward automatic braking, lane assist, lane departure warning, lane change alert with side blind zone alert, rear cross traffic alert, and new safety alert seat.
