Apple iPad Air 3: Latest Rumors, Features, Release Date

According to latest reports, Apple iPad Air 3 will be released in 2016.

In 2015, fans were anticipating to see the iPad Air 3 in September 9 event. However, the Cupertino-based Apple revealed the iPad Pro and the iPad Mini 4. The company did not mention the iPad Air 3 in the event.

According to reports, the software company did not want to release too many new versions of its tablet simultaneously. That's why Apple did not include the new iPad Air at the event.

Rumors are doing the rounds that the upcoming iPad Air 3 will have a 2.1MP front-facing camera and an 8MP rear-facing camera, according to an Alphr report. In addition, the new device will be powered by the A9X processor.

Also, iPad Air 3 is expected to have a 9.7-inch 4K screen and fingerprint sensor, Vine Report reported. It is believed that the new tablet will have RAM of between 2 GB and 4 GB. The iPad Air 3 may retain the same size and shape as the iPad Air 2 and could be extremely thin.

Rumor has it that the new device will have an IP rating for dust and water resistance that will make it the tech company's second device with such a rating after the Apple Watch. However, several reports suggest that the battery of the upcoming tablet will be decreased from the 7,340 mAh battery of the iPad Air 2.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that the new iPad Air could be released within the first half of this year; however, it will not come with the 3D Touch feature that was introduced with the iPhone 6s Plus and iPhone 6s.

The analyst further said that the iPad Air 3 is touted as the tablet that can bring a new dimension to the multi-touch interface, 3D Touch will not be the feature of iPad Air 3 due to production problems.

The production for the 3D touch is one of the serious bottlenecks that the software company faced in the supply chain of the smartphone iPhone 6s. The iPad Pro does not have the 3D Touch feature, and therefore, the tech company will look to expand the feature into its devices; however, it will likely not happen with the new iPad Air.
