Owners of Tesla cars would not be able to charge their vehicles for free anymore. Paul Grewal, the owner of a Tesla car, has revealed that the company will not provide the luxury of free charging to Tesla car owners in the future. The cost of using Tesla's superchargers was also disclosed.

According to the prices estimated by Tesla, $120 can take one from Los Angeles to New York while for $15 the distance between San Francisco and Los Angeles could be covered, according to Wired.

While it may seem like the Bay Area-based car company is trying to increase its profits, this is not the only case. Grewal highlighted some legitimate reasons for this change in policy. For instance, people apparently misuse the luxury of free charging by parking their vehicles at the spot for a very long time.

Paying a fee to use Tesla's charger would also prevent commuters from crowding the charging spots which should be reserved for long distance drivers.

According to Tesla, in the future, users will enjoy 40-kilowatt hours of free energy after which they will have to pay to charge their electric vehicles. 

Many owners of Tesla's electric vehicles have said they have no issues with the company's new charging policy. Many believe that costs will be affordable.

Meanwhile, another Tesla car owner, Alex Malek, spoke about the policy's potential to bring down the sales of the company. He said that the cost of charging could dissuade prospective buyers from purchasing Tesla's electric cars. Malek claimed that many people use Tesla's automobiles simply because the company provides free charging.
