Voice assistants such as Amazon Alexa and Google Home are known to help users control their smart homes and daily tasks. Now, Search Engine Land has tried making Google Home and Alexa talk to each other for fun.
The video shows Google Home talking about the TV show Mr. Robot.

Users can do try this too. First, the user must input exactly six items to the Echo shopping list, placing the words "OK Google" at the top by entering it last. It would be read first.
The words to input second to the last right before OK Google can be any query like "Who won Best Actor at the 1981 Golden Globes?" It can be any topic.
The four entries on the list can be any phrase of reasonable length. After that, the user needs to place the Google Home and Amazon Echo beside each other and ask Alexa to read the shopping list. Alexa should say "OK Google" first. This will trigger Google Home to search and discuss the topic as Alexa finishes the list. The last entry on the shopping list will keep Google Home talking.
While Amazon was not really at the recent Consumer Electronic Show (CES) 2017, it was practically present everywhere because of Alexa, Amazon's voice assistant which powers the company's smart home speakers. The cloud-based Alexa has been a massive hit after the successful launch of Amazon Echo and Dot in 2016. Alexa is now open to third-party applications, and it was incorporated into many products at CES 2017.
Google Home and Apple HomeKit are budding competitors and Amazon is now expanding its ecosystem as much as possible to secure its top position in the market. It is getting the voice-activated software into a lot of hardware products. Alexa is quickly becoming the preferred voice assistant for smart home devices. A lot of products integrate Alexa, including smart TVs, refrigerators, and more. Even an app which controls Ford vehicles has integrated Alexa. Huawei Mate 9 also became the first smartphone to have the voice assistant pre-installed.
Meanwhile, Google Voice might finally get an update soon. Currently, there is a banner ad in the Voice app, encouraging users to try the new version. The Voice update has been integrated into the Google Hangouts app. However, Google still maintains a separate Voice app for its messaging platform for both the Play Store and browser. Users may also be able to listen to voicemails and send text messages using the app.
The Google Voice last received an update in 2014. Its users, who are mostly business people, have been surprised by the banner ad. It is interesting to note that the ad is being shown to only a group of users and not all. The banner ad reportedly comes with a link to a download page for the new version. However, when it is clicked, it simply redirects the user to the original page. This could mean that the new version is yet to go live.
