The smash hit game of 2016 Pokemon GO has finally arrived in South Korea, six months after the game made its global debut.

Although some have already grown tired with their search for Pokemon characters, South Korean fans are still beginning their journey of hunting down the elusive creatures.

"With its robust technology infrastructure, South Korea has one of the strongest gaming communities in the world, with a large population of dedicated Pokemon fans. We are especially excited that they will now be able to explore their world with Pokemon GO," the game's official announcement said.

The game release of Pokemon GO in South Korea has been delayed because it is dependent with Google Maps, and the country restricts such application due to national safety concerns.

The mapping restriction hurdle has finally been resolved, thus the game's entry into the Korean soil, but Pokemon GO creator Niantic refused to share the details on how both parties overcame the problem. Niantic art director Dennis Hwang, however, hinted that the solution involves "various publicly accessible data resources."

"We have waited very long and worked very hard to launch Pokemon GO in South Korea," Jae Boem, CEO of Pokemon Korea, said.

The augment reality title has been released early in July and has been downloaded half a billion times. As mentioned earlier, while many players have started to move on, Niantic is working to increase its active-player base and has been updating its game.

It recently revealed some updates such as alterations on the distance parameters used for tracking so GPS drifts could be accounted in a more efficient way; some minor text improvements; and Apple Watch Pokemon GO application update so PokeStop eggs can be displayed.

Pokemon GO started rolling out South Korea's Google Play and Apple's App store on Tuesday (Jan. 24).
