Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will be lighter than the 1.76 lbs Surface Pro 4. Rumors are doing the rounds that the Surface Pro 5 will have the fingerprint scanner. At present, the fingerprint scanner comes on the accessory Type Cover keyboard. This poses problem to individuals who do not want to carry the keyboard along.

Reports also suggest that the company may improve the performance of battery of the Surface Pro 5 along with decreasing the excessive fan noise in the new device.

Rumor has it that the Surface Pro 5 will come bundled with an improved Surface Pen with a magnetic dock. A patent application filed by the tech company describes a rechargeable Surface Pen and a dock, Patently Mobile reported.

At present, the Surface Pen is powered by batteries that require replacing every 6 months. However, in the future, users may be treated with a Surface Pen that will be rechargeable. It is not known when the new tablet will be launched.

In another news, the tech giant is now recalling the power cords used by the Pro 3,  Pro 2 and Surface Pro. This is because the cables can overheat when they are pinched, twisted or wound very tightly. Free replacement cables will be offered to affected users with a process that will be revealed on January 22, 2016.

According to reports, the recall notice will cover Surface Pro-family devices sold before July 15, 2015. Fortunately, the Surface Pro 4 and Surface (non-Pro) slates are okay.

The company plans to advise consumers to stop using harmful power cords and to dispose of them in agreement with local regulations.

Keep in mind that power cords should not be wrapped too tightly or bent because they can be damaged this way. A few firms use softer cables or equip the cables with some form of cable management. Power cords of Microsoft Surface Pro come with a small hook.
