Google has announced that Gmail will no longer support Google Chrome Browsers that run on outdated versions of Chrome. Google Chrome version 53 and lower are the ones affected by this modification.

Google has given users until the end of this year to update their browser. According to Gadget360, users who have not yet upgraded their Chrome to the latest version can still access their Gmail accounts. However, there will be a banner at the top of the Gmail interface. The banner will be seen starting February 8.

Google is encouraging users to use the updated version of Google Chrome, 55. Chrome version 55 comes with very important security updates, which are essential to avoid a security breach.

According to Computer World, Google has pointed out that the outdated versions of Chrome are more susceptible to security issues. Updating the Chrome browser to the latest version 55 is very important for XP users because Microsoft has stopped releasing security patches for the OS.

Aside from XP, Windows Vista will also be affected by the update since these operating systems are still running on Chrome version 49.

By December, if users are unable to update their browsers, they will be redirected to the basic HTML version of Gmail. However, if the browser cannot be updated because of incompatibility with the OS, Google suggests that administrators should upgrade the OS as well.
