Geoglyphs site
Geoglyphs, which refers to the mysterious geometrical earthworks found in the Amazonian forests were found to be built as early as 2,000 years or later, probably 650 years ago. More than 450 of these soil trenches measuring 11 meters wide and 4 meters deep must have been dug by the early humans who have settled in the area. More revelations on the structures showed that these are made in an already changed forests.

According to Livescience, the Geoglyphs are found in the state of Acre in Brazil but there were no clues as to the use of the earth structures. These were discovered in 1980 during the conversion of the forests into agriculture such as for crops production and cattle ranching. With this mystery exposed, there were questions as to whether the Amazonian forests in Brazil is man-made or natural, especially that there are studies that the forest ecology alteration had been going on even 4,000 years ago.

From the findings of the study of the archaelogist Jenny Watling and her team of researchers, it was revealed that human beings had been responsible for the alterations of the landscapes. Esciencenews, confirmed that human beings had been changing the Amazon rainforests for a long time. Moreover, there were crops like maize and squash that were planted adjacent to the earthworks but there were no signs or relics to show villages.
The archaeological finds showed that there were rituals that were conducted in the Geoglyphs as exhibited by the remains of broken pots. In Watling's study, it was revealed that the forests used to be planted with bamboos for the last 6,000 years as shown by the soil and charcoal analysis. However, there were no indications of the reasons for the construction of the mysterious earthen structures.
