The Microsoft Surface Phone is one of the most anticipated devices of 2017 especially because the company claims it will be a handset like no other. The Microsoft Surface line-up has been a success and the world is now excited to know what the Microsoft Surface Phone can bring to the table.

Microsoft states that it will change the way people think of phones and unlike other devices which are packed with impressive hardware and software, the Microsoft Surface Phone will bring a new way of communication and be more of a mobile PC with phone capabilities.

Rumors reveal that the Microsoft Surface Phone will be a phablet with a similar screen as that of Nokia's Lumia XL. It is speculated that Microsoft is currently developing three Surface Phone variants with one targeting consumers while the other two targeting entrepreneurs and professionals.

It will likely come with a 5.5 to 6-inch HD display with 1440 x 2560 pixels resolution. It is also possible that the Surface Phone will sport either a Snapdragon 835 or an Intel Kaby Lake processor, a USB port, liquid cooling tech and an Active-Matrix Organic Light-emitting Diode display.

Rumors claim that the Microsoft Surface Phone 2017 basic version will come with 4 GB of RAM while the premium model will feature 8 GB of RAM. A 3,000 mAh battery is speculated to power the handset with a 64 GB, 128 GB and 512 GB of internal storage. A 21 MP rear camera and 8 MP front snapper are also expected.

Other rumored Microsoft Surface Phone 2017 specs include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, a Carl Zeiss rear camera, proximity sensor, compass, stylus, keyboard cover, fingerprint scanner and a barometer. The fingerprint scanner that is reportedly embedded on its display is becoming a fast trend. Microsoft is also speculated to consolidate the Windows 10 Mobile Redstone 3 out of the box with the Surface Phone 2017.

The Surface Phone may be pitted against the Apple iPhone with full versions of Windows software and an ARM processor. It is designed for tech enthusiasts and business purposes. Rumors include the Microsoft Surface Phone 2017 being able to run both Android and iOS apps on Windows 10 with minimal coding, also known as Bridge Solution.

Leaked photos also revealed single grille speakers with 3.5 mm headphone jack and a USB Type-C port. It could be released in the first quarter of the year but a 2018 release is not impossible as well. The Microsoft Surface Phone could be priced between 750 USD to 1,200 USD.
